An opportunity now exists for a graduate Civil or Structural Engineer in their main Southern Ontario facilities. An outline of the work includes:

·         Perform the necessary calculations and designs for various structures such as conveyor transfer towers, supports, material transfer systems (loading pockets, chutes, support towers) and foundations.

·         Evaluate existing steel, concrete and wood structures to determine how various modifications can be made to incorporate new or additional equipment without impacting personnel safety or the structural integrity.

·         Perform assessments of infrastructure to determine if repairs or replacement is required.  If so, recommend a suitable remediation program.

·         Approve structural/civil designs as required to ensure they comply with pertinent regulations and company standards.

·         Perform project management functions such as cost control, schedule preparation, preparation of tender documents and bid analysis.

·         Oversee work performed by consultants and contractors as required to ensure they are performing their duties as required.

·         Prepare and complete pre-development reviews as required to ensure projects are designed and constructed to comply with pertinent mining regulations and company standards.

·         Provide direction to other engineering personnel, contractors and consultants

·         Provide assistance as required to other engineering personnel (ground control, mechanical engineering, drafting, etc).

The work will provide you an opportunity to conceive of and effect improvements in their operations on a broad front.  In this role, you’ll be working closely with engineering consultants, suppliers and internal staff to provide guidance to ensure that designs meet the standards set by the company.

Ideally we are seeking an individual with a Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.  You should also have a good working knowledge of AutoCAD & Excel.
